10 Ways You Can Pray for Israel This Week

It’s been one month since October 7th. One month since Hamas terrorists infiltrated southern Israel. One month since 1,400 Israeli civilians were brutally killed on Shabbat, a holy day of rest.

Our hearts are broken. We mourn the loss of life. We ache to see justice carried out—for Hamas to be stopped. We grieve with our Israeli and Jewish friends. We fear for our Palestinian friends. The hurt and fear they are all experiencing is unimaginable.

And so, as Christians, we pray.

As instructed by Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we pray without ceasing.

We pray for healing, for comfort, for strength and for peace. We pray for the leaders. We pray for the people of Israel—both Jewish and Palestinian. We pray for the Israeli soldiers. And we pray for the hostages.

Here are 10 specific ways you can take action through prayer:

1. Pray for peace and protection for the people of Israel.

2. Pray for peace and protection for the innocent civilians in Gaza.

3. Pray for the swift and safe return of all Israeli hostages.

4. Pray for comfort for the friends and families who have lost loved ones.

5. Pray for healing and comfort for those injured and traumatized by the attacks.

6. Pray for wisdom and strength for all leadership involved in responding to the war.

7. Pray for courage and strength for the soldiers facing immediate perils.

8. Pray that God would confuse and frustrate all evil plans during this war.

9. Pray for the global Jewish community who are experiencing a rise in antisemitism.

10. Pray for Jewish college students who are feeling unsafe on their campuses and are experiencing first-hand the nearly 400% rise in antisemitism in the U.S.
